Electric machines have become ingrained in our daily lives. They are a necessary component of anything from a little toy to an electric power plant. An electrical machine is a device that transfers mechanical energy to electrical energy or electrical energy to mechanical energy. As a result, familiarity with their operational characteristics and performance is critical. Electrical machines are used in the energy conversion process that occurs during the production, transmission, and use of electric power. In a power plant, a turbine generator turns the energy produced by coal, natural gas, and other fuels into electric energy that is sent to customers through motors whose mechanical energy powers equipment in industry, residences, and transportation. Apart from motors and generators, a third category that is often included is transformers, which, despite the lack of moving elements, act as energy converters by altering the voltage level of an alternating current. This book elucidates new techniques and applications of electric machines in a multidisciplinary approach. It provides deep knowledge of the various concepts and theories of the subject. It studies production management, magnetism, transformer and synchronous generator. It deals with three-phase induction motors, direct current generators and principles of electromechanical energy conversion. While understanding the long-term perspectives of the topics, the book makes an effort in highlighting their impact as a modern tool for the growth of the discipline. Different approaches, evaluations and methodologies have been included in it. This book, with its detailed analyses and data, will prove immensely beneficial to graduates and post-graduates involved in this area at various levels.
